Scots Pine Slab Bonsai – LDB10001
A striking and substantial Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris), planted on a naturalistic slab and developed into a powerful, mature composition. On a Jan Culek slab.
The tree has a strong sweeping trunk with mature bark and excellent movement, rising from an impressive moss-covered root mass before opening into a broad, asymmetric canopy. Long extending branches and areas of negative space give the composition the feeling of an old pine growing from exposed ground in the landscape.
Considerable structural work has already gone into this tree. The branches have been positioned and developed to create the framework visible today, while still leaving plenty of scope for its next owner to continue refining the foliage and overall silhouette.
The slab planting is an important part of the composition rather than simply a container. Together with the exposed root mass and moss, it gives the tree a rugged, natural appearance and makes this a bonsai with considerable visual impact.
This is a large, substantial tree and would make an impressive addition to an established collection.
